How to Play Gamecube Games Online:
The out of the box the Gamecube console is not online ready. To play online compatible Gamecube games you need to purchase
either the Broadband or Modem Adaptor.

About the Broadband Adaptor:

The Broadband Adapter for the Nintendo GameCube allows you to connect to a dial-up
Internet connection for playing online-capable games. This adapter can only be
used with specially designed Nintendo GameCube games that include online game
features.
Before you buy a Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter, you will need to know what you get when you purchase the adapter, any additional products you will need to purchase to play games online, and any limitations of the adapter or the software. We have provided the details below.

What you will need to know before you buy:
In order to play games online with the Broadband Adapter, you will need an
ethernet cable with an RJ45
connector (shown below). You will likely already have this cable in your
existing DSL or cable modem connection to your PC. If you do, you will need to
remove this cable from the back of your PC and plug it into the Broadband
Adapter to play Nintendo GameCube games online.
You will need a broadband modem near where you will be playing your Nintendo
GameCube. If it is in another room, you will need to purchase a longer ethernet
cable.
Games that are programmed for online gaming are designed to access the
gaming site only. You will not be able to use these games or the Nintendo
GameCube Broadband Adapter to "surf" the internet.
Not all games have online capabilities. The accessories window on the back
of the packaging will be clearly marked if a game is compatible with the
Broadband Adapter.

What you will need to know before you buy:
You will need a phone jack near where you will be playing your Nintendo
GameCube or you will need to purchase a longer phone wire than the one that is
supplied.
Games that are programmed for online gaming are designed to access the
gaming site only. You will not be able to use these games or the Nintendo
GameCube Modem Adapter to "surf" the internet.
You will need to have an existing dial up internet service provider in order
to use the Nintendo GameCube Modem Adapter to play games online. Please note:
Some service providers do not allow outside software to access their services
without the use of a special login tool. Due to Nintendo and its third party
publishers not having access to these proprietary development tools, current
games will not work with some internet service providers such as America Online,
Compuserve, and most free internet service providers.
Not all games sold for the Nintendo GameCube have online capabilities. The
accessories window on the back of the software packaging will mark if a game is
compatible with the Modem Adapter.
